1 Hurt in Gang-Related Shooting In Watsonville

WATSONVILLE (CBS SF) — Police were investigating a gang-motivated shooting that left one person injured Friday in Watsonville.

At about 7:35 p.m. Watsonville police and Santa Cruz County Gang Task Force officers received a report of a shooting near the intersection of Sudden Street and East Lake Avenue.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers made contact with witnesses who reported a shooting in a nearby parking lot. Witnesses said that two male suspects shot and wounded a male victim, according to police.

Both the suspects and the victim left the scene before police arrived.

About 20 minutes after receiving the reports of a shooting, officers were notified of a gunshot victim who was seeking medical attention at Watsonville Community Hospital, police said.
